Stewart Anderson Black Angus
Back in the day my mother-in-law would take us to Black Angus for my birthday. Being cheap has its consequences. The bottom of the menu was always the first stop. If they were running any specials that was the first choice. One time they were running a chicken and steak special for about 12 bucks. This was a long time ago. Most of the time though they would have a little New York strip steak for around 10 to 12 bucks. One time the steak was delicious tender without gristle and almost no fat. But every other bottom quality steak there was almost completely fat and gristle. It was almost as if by some design divinely inspired. In fact it got to the point where after chewing a bite one or two chews I would carefully take it out of my mouth and put it behind the potato skin. Because their standard meal was a baked potato steak and a salad. This is a great combination, but their cheap steaks were terrible. That location eventually went out of business. It got to the point where they had pretty good business on Saturday afternoon and Sunday after church. Otherwise the parking lot was empty. It had been a great part of town at one time, but was now sort of a blue collar area. A steak place by definition is going to be expensive and people around there were looking for McDonald's. Even I wasn't willing to spend $20 of my mother-in-law's money all those years ago.
